It seems those of us over a certain age have spent many of our years trying to figure out why a lot of things in life are the way they are. Sometimes, we are lucky and actually get an answer but more often than not we resign ourselves to the acceptance of life going along as it was meant to be. That is not to say that we shouldn't continue to explore.

Calgon, Take Me Away...
I am probably giving away my age by this title but so what. If you are someone over 40 then seeing this title tells you that I need a vacation. George and I usually manage to get away in April/May and October for a few days at a time. We enjoy spending the hot summer months in our backyard. Our beautiful pool combined with the gorgeous landscaping and five simply adorable grandkids makes for a really nice bunch of fun. I think because the winter being a horrible one this year, me and many others just seem starved for some getaway time. Not only that but friends and family are all travelling about and its only making me more hungry for some downtime. So, we will be making a trip to someplace I have never been - Niagra Falls. Hoping that by the time we go the weather will have considerably heated up. It really is true what you hear about the Bucket List. Once you make one it becomes something that will no longer sit on the back burner because you start to realize why you made it in the first place. Each day that goes by, time seems to speed up and the days get shorter and suddenly the phrase "this is not a test" hits you like a ton of bricks. The last thing you want to happen is to leave this earth without having lived your life. Don't be a spectator in your life - go and live it !! Makes one wonder why with all the things on this earth there are to do that so many of us just watch it pass by. I would venture to say.....IJTWLI.

The Sunday Slump
I always try to make my weekends longer and more enjoyable. I think that if I don't plan too many things, the time will drag and I will have the illusion that the day is, in fact, longer. Sometimes, it does work - say, like on a rainy Saturday. A time when you don't have to feel guilty about sitting the day away just reading or watching TV. I usually end up using a day like that to do the mountains of ironing that I let build up because of my procrastinating through all the previous weeks. But, then comes Sunday. The day of rest, the day to praise our maker, the day to catch up with family for a nice long meal together. While I really try to just enjoy whatever the day brings there is always the back burner of knowledge that it is the eve of the work week. Mind you, I really enjoy my work and at my age really don't stress over it, however, still can't seem to shake that "gloom" that most of you, I am sure, can relate to called "Sunday Night". This is one of those occurances that I have spent a good bit of time trying to make it different in how I perceive it and relate to it. At some point, I do realize that no matter what I come up with or how I try to camoflage it, Sunday Night will always be just that, and why? Because ............IJTWLI

TGIF.....
You all know what that stands for. For some reason, this week seemed endless. Very busy days and nights but glad to be moving. Sitting quietly by yourself means just that and normally I like to be doing with others. Tonight will be a fun time while I sit and watch my niece, Sarah, perform in her HS play, UrineTown. I have a gut feeling she will end up on Broadway - she is that good. Hopefully, we won't run into the seven plus inches of that damn white stuff that has been hanging around for the past few months. I am ready for Spring !
Have to make this a short post today because as usual there is much to do in order for me to actually enjoy tonight. Why is it that most of us can't let ourselves enjoy something unless the tedious stuff is finished? I think it has something to do with OCD or something like that, or, maybe .............IJTWLI

Craters & Sink Holes
So, who was it that invented the term "pothole"? I'm convinced it probably was not someone with a driver's license. The term almost seems cute. A little pot such as in cooking and a hole such as in what you would plant a flower in. Pothole. Sounds so unassuming. Why then do they apply this term to the tire blowing, rim bending, gut wrenching craters and sink holes that have popped up on virtually every street from my front door to my parking lot at work. Just about a seven mile trip but on the way I don't think I can manage to drive but fifty feet in a straight line. I can hear the people behind me wondering what the hell is she doing? She must be drunk! Is she serious? Where's a cop? Granted, the weather this winter has been atrocious but boy you would think that the DPW would be prepared to at least start filling up some of them before Summer arrives. Frankly, I think they are just waiting for all of them to blend into one and they will have some sort of town to town contest to see who has the largest one. Be careful everyone - it would be a real shame to be swallowed up by one of these. I guess we could complain forever, in fact, I think this has been going on for decades, but as we all know..................IJTWLI

Now I'm Confused.....
So this is the beginning of my blog. I was really surprised at how easy everything was to set up and get rolling but Google is like that. Make a product so simple that everybody wants to use every aspect of it. Great thinkers and planners. All for except one small detail in my case. It took me the longest time to get a blog name that fit because so many of them were in use. As you see, I finally came upon one of my choices and so was quite pleased. As you would expect, I Googled my blog title and do you think this blogspot came up? Nope. There was, however, several others with the same title that did. I guess there's a learning curve to this whole ordeal - I'll figure it out soon enough.
For now though, I am going to try my best to keep this thing going on a regular basis and make some friends along the way. I am sure there will be days that will be too hectic and chaotic for me to sit and post but I will NOT beat myself up because....................IJTWLI
